It is important to distinguish Cerro Punta from similarly named locations in other countries, such as the 'Punta del Cerro' farm in Huehuetenango, Guatemala. While both share names referencing their elevated, mountainous locations, they are distinct entities. Cerro Punta in Panama is a geographic region and town, whereas Punta del Cerro in Guatemala is a specific private estate managed by the Villatoro family.

Today, Cerro Punta remains a vital, albeit small, contributor to the global coffee market. Despite Panama's total coffee production being less than 1% of the world's output, the quality coming out of the Chiriquí highlands ensures that the region remains at the forefront of coffee innovation.
