The company’s name is derived from the Latin term "reviresco," which translates to "to be renewed or revived." The company was founded by Tim Bynum, Melissa Dalton, and Steven Dalton. The transition to their current brick-and-mortar location involved significant logistical challenges. Although the project was announced in the summer of 2022 while the company was operating out of the Lakeside area of Richmond, the opening of the 710 Lafayette Street facility was delayed by approximately one year due to permitting processes. The café and roastery officially commenced operations in July 2023.

Reviresco’s production philosophy centers on a "low and slow" roasting technique. By extending the roasting duration at lower temperatures, the roasters aim to maximize the caramelization of natural sugars within the beans. This approach is intended to produce a consistently smooth, approachable cup, even in darker roast profiles. The company focuses primarily on blended coffees rather than single-origin offerings, intentionally crafting flavor profiles that evoke familiar notes such as chocolate, toffee, and dark caramel.
