The various farms under the name Finca Santa Elena have diverse origins, with some established as early as the 20th century and others founded more recently, such as the Colombian farm in 2000. These farms are typically family-owned, with some representing second-generation operations that have transitioned toward specialty coffee production.

Challenges

The El Salvador location faced near-destruction during the 2005 eruption of the Santa Ana volcano, necessitating a complete rebuild of the farm's infrastructure and cultivation practices.

Innovations

Farms under this name have implemented agroforestry systems using native trees, adopted sustainable drying and processing techniques, and utilized advanced methods like thermal shock processing to enhance cup quality.
