Takesi

The story

Finca Takesi is located in the Mururata mountain area of the Sud Yungas province in Bolivia, accessible via an ancient Inca road. The farm is owned by the Agrotakesi SA institution, with Mauricio Ramiro Diez de Medina serving as the owner. Mariana Iturralde, the daughter of the owner, played a key role in demonstrating that world-class coffee could be successfully cultivated in the high-altitude Bolivian mountains.

Challenges

The farm operates in a remote, high-altitude environment that requires navigating difficult terrain, as it is only accessible via an ancient Inca road. The extreme altitude and specific climate conditions necessitate careful management to maintain consistent production.

Innovations

The farm utilizes alpine melting snow water for processing and is recognized for its commitment to organic farming practices, holding both USDA Organic and Ceser certifications. Its production model leverages the unique, low-temperature volcanic environment of the Takesi Valley to develop complex flavor profiles.
