The story
While coffee cultivation has been a regional legacy for over 50 years, the Mendosayoc cooperative was officially established in 2021. It was formally constituted in April 2022 to organize the efforts of local small-scale producers.
Challenges
The community operates within the specific environmental constraints of the Manu Biosphere Reserve, requiring careful management of small-scale agricultural plots.
Innovations
Since the cooperative's formal inception, members have achieved a 10% annual growth in production and an 11% increase in income through collective organization.
