What is Coffea arabica var. Castillo? It is a widely cultivated hybrid variety developed by the Colombian Coffee Research Center, Cenicafé. Created through the crossing of Caturra and the Timor Hybrid, Castillo was specifically engineered to provide farmers with a robust, disease-resistant alternative to traditional varieties like Caturra and Typica, which are highly susceptible to coffee leaf rust.
