Who grows Pink Bourbon?
is associated especially with growers in southern Huila, Colombia, including the Acevedo area. Producers and exporters there helped bring the coffee to specialty buyers, but no single farm can be verified as the origin of every seed line. Farm identity should be confirmed for each lot, not inferred from the variety name.
Sources show where the underlying information came from. They do not automatically make a claim correct, so disputed history, evolving science and uncertain claims should be labeled as such in the explanation itself.
The people behind are more important than its marketing mythology. Reporting from Perfect Daily Grind features Colombian producer Rodrigo Sánchez Valencia of Aromas del Sur, who described a collaborative effort to identify and commercialize around 2013 and said local accounts trace it to southern Huila earlier. These are attributed producer accounts—not proof that one farm invented or genetically originated the variety.
Growers in southern Huila, particularly around Acevedo and San Adolfo, have been prominent in the variety's commercial story. is also offered from other producing areas; a bag's variety name alone cannot tell you which farmer grew it. We should name a specific producer only when an importer, roaster, , or farm provides traceable evidence for that particular lot.
Genetic nuance matters here too. Cafe Imports reports that DNA tests from 2017 and 2023 placed sampled material with Ethiopian landrace genetics, rather than Bourbon, and that some samples were mixed. Older stories claiming a recessive Red–Yellow Bourbon mutation or universal hybrid instability should not be presented as settled fact.
Before purchasing, look for farm or name, municipality, harvest, processing details, and clarity about whether identity is seller-reported or genetically confirmed. Our site does not infer a farmer or assign a tasting score merely from a label.
