The story

Altieri Coffee Farms is a family-owned business founded by Eugene Altieri, an Italian-American entrepreneur who moved to Panama in 1973. Eugene acquired two farms in Boquete, Mima and Pipim, over two decades ago without initial knowledge of their specialty coffee potential. Today, the business is managed by his adult children and a professional team, continuing the family legacy.

Challenges

The farm operates in a unique microclimate on the eastern slope of the Baru Volcano, where colliding winds from the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans create complex environmental conditions that require careful management.

Innovations

The farm utilizes advanced processing techniques, including anaerobic fermentation, and has achieved consistent success in the Best of Panama competition through meticulous quality control and varietal selection.
