Finca Alasitas

The story

Finca Las Alasitas is owned and operated by the Rodríguez family, who have been instrumental in reimagining the potential of Bolivian specialty coffee. The family established the farm in the Bolinda colony near Caranavi, focusing on high-quality production and the development of robust nursery programs.

Challenges

Due to the lack of a national coffee federation in Bolivia, the family has had to independently source seedstock and seek external advice to manage planting and local environmental conditions.

Innovations

The farm has implemented a reorganization strategy involving the removal of every third line of coffee trees to improve light exposure for the remaining plants. Additionally, they utilize advanced processing techniques such as 96-hour anaerobic fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
