The story
Hacienda Don Julian was established in 1999 after Dr. Richard D. Burneskis and his wife purchased a 42-hectare property in Boquete, Panama. Initially consisting of virgin forest and weeds, the couple decided to develop the land for coffee production to protect the environment from deforestation.
Challenges
The farm faced significant initial difficulties due to its high altitude, which created a cold climate that made it challenging for crops to grow.
Innovations
The farm was founded with the primary goal of environmental conservation and protecting the local forest.
