Kamwea Estate

The story

Kamwea Estate was established by Nyaga Kamwea, who received a 5-acre plot of land through a community program as a young man. He began planting coffee on the property, having successfully cultivated over 1,000 trees by the time he finished high school. The estate is now managed as a tribute to his late father and as a legacy for his son.

Challenges

The estate is located in Kenya's eastern province, a region that is historically known for corn production rather than coffee, requiring the farm to defy local agricultural norms to produce high-quality coffee.

Innovations

The farm has successfully established high-quality coffee production in an area not traditionally recognized for the crop.
