This is a research profile, not an independently conducted farm visit. Producer and coffee relationships are shown only when the records agree. Check the research sources below for supporting evidence.

The story

The Kii Factory was constructed in 1995 to serve local coffee growers. It is owned and operated by the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society, which was established in 1997 to reinvigorate coffee production in the area and currently manages three distinct processing mills.

Challenges

The factory faces the ongoing need to maintain high quality standards through rigorous cherry sorting and sustainable water management practices.

Innovations

The cooperative has implemented quality-focused measures including the installation of tiles on washing channels to improve hygiene and the implementation of water recycling systems to clean and reuse river water.
