This is a research profile, not an independently conducted farm visit. Producer and coffee relationships are shown only when the records agree. Check the research sources below for supporting evidence.
The story
The Batamba place-name predates the farm's Gesha planting. Carlos Luis Ureña Hidalgo planted Gesha in the sector in 2016, and directly relevant reporting describes the later crop as the beginning of meaningful production.
Challenges
Coffee production in the Dota region faces significant climate pressures, requiring producers to adapt to changing weather patterns at high altitudes. Maintaining consistent quality and yields remains a primary operational challenge for small-scale farms in this mountainous terrain.
Innovations
The farm utilizes advanced processing techniques such as honey and washed methods to enhance flavor profiles. It also participates in the Blue Flag Costa Rican Program and pursues carbon-neutral certifications to improve environmental sustainability.
Published coffees linked to this farm
For blends, a farm may be named for one documented component without growing the entire coffee. These catalog relationships do not independently verify every lot, harvest or producer. See individual coffee profiles for traceability evidence.
