Coffee production at Fazenda Sertão dates back to the early days of the Carmo de Minas region. José Isidro Pereira, a dentist by trade, inherited the farm in 1940 and dedicated his life to coffee. His son, Luiz Paulo Dias Pereira, later expanded the family's agricultural operations significantly starting in 1974.
