Kushikamana
Kushikamana is an informal network of roughly a dozen autonomous small-estate coffee growers in the foothills of Mount Kenya. The name means “connected” in Swahili, reflecting the group’s emphasis on knowledge-sharing and direct price agreements with growers.
History
Counter Culture began pursuing direct relationships with small estates near Mount Kenya in the early 2010s. Peter Mbature of Kamavindi Estate helped share quality practices with neighboring farms, and the informal Kushikamana network was founded in 2017.
