Bourbon Primitivo
A farm-selected Bourbon-line Arabica propagated by Luis Anibal Calderón at Villa Betulia. Dark Woods identifies its Villa Betulia lot as Primitivo Arabica and Bourbon Primitivo; directly relevant accounts report that Luis selected seed from a distinctive Bourbon tree and planted the selection in 2017.
Luis Anibal Calderón found a Bourbon tree at Villa Betulia whose appearance differed from surrounding trees, selected its seed, and propagated it as a separate farm variety. The selection was planted in 2017 and named Bourbon Primitivo to distinguish it from standard Bourbon.
Treat flavor as lot- and process-specific. The Dark Woods natural lot is described with berry fruit, port wine, malted chocolate, grape-like depth, and a winey, juicy mouthfeel.
The source material describes the mother tree as visibly distinct from surrounding Bourbon trees; a formal public morphology or genetic specification was not found.
Luis Anibal selected and propagated it as a distinctive farm cultivar for differentiated specialty micro-lots.
