Where did it come from?

Icatu was developed by the Instituto Agronômico de Campinas from a Coffea canephora × Coffea arabica cross followed by repeated backcrossing to Arabica. Rogue Wave’s exact Rio Brilhante release identifies the cultivar as Icatu and notes its commercial release in 1993.
