This is a research profile, not an independently conducted farm visit. Producer and coffee relationships are shown only when the records agree. Check the research sources below for supporting evidence.
The story
Founded in 1989 by 20 visionary K’anjob’al Mayan farmers, the cooperative was established to help smallholders maintain market access during periods of plummeting coffee prices. It grew significantly throughout the 1990s and secured its first organic and Fairtrade certifications by 1999, eventually expanding to support thousands of members across dozens of communities.
Challenges
The cooperative has historically navigated significant market price volatility and the need for climate change adaptation in the rugged, isolated highlands of Huehuetenango.
Innovations
ASOBAGRI utilizes vermicomposting to produce bio-fertilizers and promotes soil conservation through terracing. They also operate the 'Los Jóvenes' program, which provides agroforestry and entrepreneurship training to young farmers to ensure generational continuity.

Published coffees linked to this farm
For blends, a farm may be named for one documented component without growing the entire coffee. These catalog relationships do not independently verify every lot, harvest or producer. See individual coffee profiles for traceability evidence.
