The story
The Asociación de Productores Agropecuarios de Santa Rosa (ASPRASAR) was founded on March 11, 2016, by a small group of 18 producers in the Alto Saldaña region of southern Tolima. It was established to create opportunities for smallholder coffee families who had historically been overlooked. The association has since grown into a network of over 70 producer families.
Challenges
Farmers in the region have historically faced difficulties regarding market access and the need for technical support to improve infrastructure for fermentation and drying.
Innovations
The cooperative provides significant technical support to its members, including training on harvesting at optimal ripeness and guidance on achieving Regenerative Organic, Fairtrade Organic, and USDA Organic certifications.
