The story

The Halo Beriti washing station was established in 2014 within the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia. It functions as a central hub for over 750 smallholder farmers who deliver their coffee cherries to the facility for processing.

Challenges

Farmers in the region typically cultivate coffee on small garden plots without the use of fertilizers or pesticides, often intercropping with other food crops.

Innovations

The station utilizes special preparation protocols, including continuous monitoring and hand-sorting during receiving and drying, to ensure high-quality output.
