Condor Ridge

The story

Condor Ridge Ranch, located in Goleta, California, is recognized as the state's first commercial coffee farm. It was established in 2002 by Jay Ruskey, who partnered with UC Farm Advisor Dr. Mark Gaskell to pioneer coffee cultivation in the region.

Challenges

The farm faces unique environmental conditions in California, characterized by lower humidity and significant temperature fluctuations, which result in slower cherry development compared to tropical regions.

Innovations

The farm utilizes controlled growing conditions and precise management to adapt coffee production to a non-tropical climate, successfully producing high-quality lots such as the Geisha selected for the 2026 Dubai Coffee Auction.
