The story
The family behind Daterra began their journey in Brazil in 1902 after emigrating from Italy, initially selling green coffee in Campinas. After decades of success in the auto parts industry, the family returned to agriculture in 1976 to found Daterra. The farm transitioned through various agricultural ventures before returning to coffee production with a focus on sustainable innovation.

The farm faces complex issues related to climate change and the necessity of implementing sustainable agricultural practices to protect soil, water, and wildlife. They also navigate the ongoing challenge of balancing high-quality production with environmental responsibility.
Innovations
Daterra utilizes a GPS-based system to manage 216 mini-farms and employs a unique technology to sort coffee cherries by maturation stage. They also operate a dedicated lab for testing unusual varietals and processing techniques, alongside the 'Penta System' for green coffee production.
