The story

Founded in 1887, Fazenda Rio Verde is the oldest estate within the Ipanema Coffees portfolio. While the parent company, Ipanema Agricola, has been producing coffee since the 1970s, the farm itself maintains a legacy spanning over a century in the Mantiqueira de Minas mountains.

Challenges

The farm manages a massive 1,566-hectare operation, requiring significant logistical coordination to maintain quality across its production area. It must balance large-scale output with the preservation of its extensive native forest and conservation lands.

Innovations

The farm utilizes a modern coffee mill and employs precision agriculture techniques to manage its crops. Historically, it implemented a large-scale circular fertilization program using manure from its own poultry operations to nourish the coffee plantation.
