Finca El Diviso

The story

Finca El Diviso was established approximately 27 to 30 years ago by José Uribe Lasso in the Normandía region of Pitalito, Huila. The farm is a multi-generational family operation, now managed by brothers Néstor and Adrián Lasso, who took over the property about eight years ago. They transitioned the farm from traditional commodity coffee production to a focus on specialty coffee and experimental processing.

Challenges

The producers faced the difficulty of moving away from traditional commodity farming practices to establish a specialty-focused business. They also navigated the complexities of trial and error over many years to standardize their experimental processing techniques.

Innovations

The farm is recognized for its rigorous experimentation with fermentation, including the use of specific microorganisms and anaerobic thermal shock processing. They have invested in infrastructure to support these differentiated processing methods and have actively introduced rare coffee varieties to their land.
