Finca Paraíso

The story

Finca El Paraíso was established in 2008 by Diego Samuel Bermudez Tapia, who began the project on a 2.5-hectare plot while studying Agricultural Enterprise Management. Unlike many Colombian producers, the farm was not founded on generational family tradition, but rather as a new venture by the Bermudez family. The farm has since expanded significantly, currently managing 10 farms in the Cauca region.

Challenges

The farm faced significant hurdles common to Colombian producers, including unpredictable climate patterns, volatile market prices, high production costs, and the difficulty of maintaining consistent quality while navigating a market dominated by middlemen.

Innovations

Finca El Paraíso is recognized for its scientific approach to coffee, utilizing proprietary technology and microbiology to achieve unprecedented consistency. Key innovations include the development of the Thermal Shock processing technique, condensation-based drying equipment, and the use of yeast-mediated biocatalysis to control fermentation.
