Finca Tamana

The story

Finca Tamana is a 57-hectare plantation located in the mountains of Huila, Colombia, between El Pital and La Plata. The farm was acquired by producer Elias Roa in 2011 after it had been abandoned for some time. Today, the farm is managed as a family operation by Elias, his wife Bellanid, and their children.

Challenges

The farm was previously abandoned before its acquisition and subsequent revitalization. Producers in the region often face difficult terrain and unpredictable weather, such as heavy rain clouds that frequently cover the mountains.

Innovations

Elias Roa has focused on diversifying varietals, including the introduction of African-lineage trees like SL28. He is also recognized for investing in processing infrastructure and prioritizing the welfare and fair treatment of his harvest workers.
