La Mina

The story

La Mina is a family-run farm located in Buesaco, Nariño, and was established by Franco López, who was the first coffee producer in the municipality. The farm is currently managed by the López family, including his daughter Cielo and her husband Nilson, who have been instrumental in elevating the region's coffee reputation.

Challenges

The farm operates in a region where producers must navigate the complexities of high-altitude terrain and specific microclimates, though the family has focused on overcoming these through meticulous quality practices.

Innovations

The López family is recognized for their selective cherry harvesting, obsessive sorting, and the implementation of innovative processing techniques, including anaerobic fermentation, which have led to multiple Cup of Excellence wins.
