Finca La Reforma is captained by the Alvarez family. The family has been cultivating coffee in the Santa Ana region for more than a century.

The farm faces general industry challenges such as the need for financing to purchase inputs for pest control and soil nutrition, as well as a documented shortage of agricultural labor.

Innovations

The farm utilizes sustainable practices including the use of native and Inga shade trees, sandy loam soil management, and both soil and foliar fertilization.
