Llaqta Pata
The story
Llaqta Pata, meaning 'High City,' is located on the slopes of Apu Choqesafra in the Peruvian Andes. The farm is managed by producer Gilber Huayllas Huaman, representing a multi-generational effort involving Don Claudio, Faliciano, and Gilber's own family. The farm's production is the result of decades of collaborative dedication to coffee cultivation in the Cusco region.
Challenges
The farm operates in a dramatic, high-altitude landscape where cold mountain air slows the maturation of coffee cherries, requiring careful management of the harvest cycle.
Innovations
The farm has gained recognition for producing high-quality lots, including a third-place finish in the 2025 Cup of Excellence competition. Additionally, the farm utilizes specialized processing techniques such as anaerobic fermentation.
