Mate Matiwos

The story

Mate Matiwos was born in Keramo into a family already involved in the coffee business. After finding success as a local commodity trader, he transitioned into coffee farming by leasing land in the Keramo and Danche areas.

Challenges

Smallholder producers in the region have historically faced limitations in processing infrastructure, which has been addressed through the provision of pulpers to enable washed processing.

Innovations

The farm has adopted new processing capabilities, specifically the use of pulpers to produce single-producer washed coffees, and has achieved recognition as a top winner in the Cup of Excellence competition.
