This is a research profile, not an independently conducted farm visit. Producer and coffee relationships are shown only when the records agree. Check the research sources below for supporting evidence.
The story
Nyamatu Estate is a women-owned enterprise managed by Nyamatu Kiburi. The estate represents the product of her personal investment and labor in the Kenyan coffee sector. Unlike many smallholders in the region who historically delivered cherry to centralized cooperative factories, Kiburi established her own processing infrastructure to maintain control over the production of her coffee.
Challenges
Farmers in the Kiambu region face documented challenges including low production yields caused by pests and disease, as well as the burden of high prices for agricultural inputs.
Innovations
On-estate wet mill enables traceability to the farm. Sucafina documents 12โ16 hour tank fermentation, 24-hour soaking, and 10โ20 days of raised-bed drying for its Nyamatu Estate AB offering.
Published coffees linked to this farm
For blends, a farm may be named for one documented component without growing the entire coffee. These catalog relationships do not independently verify every lot, harvest or producer. See individual coffee profiles for traceability evidence.
