Rianjagi Farmers Cooperative Society

The story

The Rianjagi Farmers Cooperative Society was established in 1950. It has since grown into a collective of over 2,100 members who operate as smallholder farmers on the northeastern slopes of Mount Kenya in Embu County.

Challenges

The cooperative faces the challenge of managing wastewater from processing to prevent environmental pollution in the local area.

Innovations

To address environmental concerns, the cooperative has implemented soak pits to manage and divert used water away from local water sources.
