Shanteweyne Farm

The story

Shantawene Farm is operated by Daye Bensa, a coffee growing and exporting company founded in 2006 by brothers Asefa and Mulugeta Dukamo. The farm is located in the Shantawene village of the Bensa district in the Sidama region. It functions as both a farm and a processing station that sources coffee from its own land and from hundreds of local smallholder out-growers.

Challenges

The farm operates in a complex environment where it must manage logistics for nearly 1,000 out-grower farmers while maintaining high quality standards across varying altitudes.

Innovations

The farm has gained recognition for its high-quality processing, including placing 7th in the 2020 Ethiopia Cup of Excellence, and utilizes specialized processing stations like Shantawene Gafisse to experiment with methods such as anaerobic fermentation.
