Tamiru Tadesse is a coffee producer and the founder of Alo Coffee, an exporting company and network of processing stations based in the Bensa district of Sidama, Ethiopia. A former university teacher and electrical engineer, he transitioned into the coffee industry to improve quality standards and ensure better recognition for local farmers. He operates his business alongside his wife, Messi.
History
Before founding Alo Coffee, Tamiru worked in the coffee industry for several years, observing the challenges producers faced regarding pricing and undervalued labor. Inspired by Ethiopia's inaugural Cup of Excellence competition in 2020, he and his wife launched their own venture. In 2021, they achieved significant recognition by winning the Cup of Excellence with their first submission.
