Gabriel Castaño Buendía was a prominent coffee producer based in Acevedo, Huila, Colombia, widely recognized as the 'godfather' of the Pink Bourbon variety. He was instrumental in popularizing this variety in southern Colombia, having shared his knowledge and plant material with numerous peers throughout the region.

During the economic instability of the 1990s, Castaño shifted to coca production for several years to survive before returning to coffee in the mid-2000s. He eventually committed his farm to the Pink Bourbon variety, a decision that became a regional signature. He remained a dedicated producer until his passing.
