Gilbert Gatali and Gervais
Gilbert Gatali is a prominent Rwandan coffee professional and the owner of the Intango washing station, which he operates alongside his business partner, Gervais. With over 13 years of experience in the specialty coffee industry, he has served as a leader in the sector, including as the chairman of the African Fine Coffees Association. He is dedicated to supporting smallholder farmers near Lake Kivu through the communal sharing space provided by his washing station.

Gatali began his coffee career as the East Africa Manager for Sustainable Harvest before becoming the Managing Director of KZ Noir Ltd, where he helped pioneer Rwanda's first farmer-owned specialty coffee export company. In 2017, he and Gervais took over the Intango washing station, which had previously been part of a cooperative that won the 2014 Rwanda Cup of Excellence. Since then, they have operated the station to support local farmers and improve coffee quality in the Karongi region.
