Mustefa Abakeno

Mustefa Abakeno is a highly respected coffee producer and exporter based in Beshasha, near Agaro in the Jimma Zone of western Ethiopia. He manages an 18-hectare farm and operates multiple washing stations that process coffee from his own land as well as from over 200 outgrowers in the surrounding area.

History

Mustefa was instrumental in the formation of the Hunda Oli Cooperative and the Kata Muduga Cooperative Union. Following 2017 regulatory changes in Ethiopia, he became one of the first smallholder farmers to obtain a direct export license in 2018. He has since established his own wet mill to manage processing and facilitate direct trade with international buyers.
