Pergamino is a Medellín-based coffee roaster, retailer, and green coffee exporter founded by Pedro Echavarría Jr. The company operates as a vertically integrated business that manages the entire coffee chain, from farming and processing to roasting and serving coffee in its own specialty shops. They are recognized for their Allied Producer Program, which connects over 1,500 smallholder farmers across Colombia to international markets.
History
The family began producing coffee in the 1970s, but the export business was officially launched in 2010 by Pedro Echavarría Jr. after the family grew frustrated with selling parchment coffee into the commodity market. In 2012, they opened their first specialty café in El Poblado, Medellín, marking one of the earliest entries into the Colombian specialty coffee retail scene. Since then, they have expanded their roasting and retail footprint while building a robust network of allied producers.
