Qima is an international specialty coffee organization founded by Faris Sheibani that focuses on sourcing, developing, and promoting coffee from Yemen, Colombia, and Ecuador. The company is recognized for its commitment to equitable trade, utilizing a three-tiered pricing model to ensure farmers receive a living income. It operates as a major exporter in Yemen, working with thousands of smallholder farmers to manage the supply chain from cherry to cup.
History
Founded in London in 2016 by Faris Sheibani, a former chemical engineer, Qima was established to support Yemeni smallholder farmers during the country's civil conflict. The company began by working with 30 farmers in one community and has since expanded its operations to include thousands of farmers across 55 communities. In 2020, the company expanded its operations into Colombia, followed by an expansion into Ecuador in 2022.
