Rachel and Adam Overton

Rachel Samuel and Adam Overton are the founders of the Gesha Village Coffee Estate in the Bench Maji zone of Ethiopia. They are recognized for their work in documenting native coffee species and establishing a world-renowned estate dedicated to the cultivation of the Gesha variety in its ancestral homeland.

History

The project began in 2007 when the couple started documenting wild coffee in the Gori Gesha Forest while producing a documentary on Ethiopian coffee. In 2011, they leased a 471-hectare property near the forest to establish their farm, working with consultant Willem Boot to cultivate specific wild selections.
