Edinson Argote

Edinson Argote is a dedicated coffee producer operating out of the Huila department in Colombia. His journey into the coffee industry was not traditional; he entered the sector through hard labor, working his way up from manual tasks at a cousin's buying station in Acevedo. During his time there, he developed a deep interest in the sensory aspects of coffee, eventually rising to become a head of quality and processing control. This foundational experience provided him with the technical fermentation and processing expertise that now characterizes his production at Quebraditas Coffee Farm.

Quebraditas Coffee Farm is a family-run project co-founded by Edinson Argote and Luz Angela Rojas. Located in the Huila region, the farm spans approximately 18 hectares at elevations ranging from 1,600 to 1,850 meters above sea level. The farm serves as a hub for innovation, where the team integrates traditional coffee-growing roots with modern agronomic management, including strategic shade cultivation and rigorous soil care to ensure the health and longevity of their crops.

Argote is widely recognized for his commitment to experimental processing techniques. He is particularly noted for his use of thermal shock fermentation and yeast inoculation, methods that allow him to manipulate the sensory outcomes of his coffee. These processes are designed to highlight specific flavor notes, resulting in highly sought-after microlots that often feature intense fruit-forward characteristics, such as notes of passionfruit, lychee, jasmine, strawberry, and mango.

His production includes a variety of cultivars, with his Gesha and Sidra lots receiving significant acclaim in the specialty coffee market. These coffees are frequently featured by specialty roasters globally, who value the precision and consistency Argote brings to his post-harvest processing. His ability to produce complex, clean, and vibrant cups has made his name synonymous with high-end, process-driven Colombian specialty coffee.
