La Prosperidad de Chirinos Cooperative

Founded in 1968, Cooperativa La Prosperidad de Chirinos has evolved from a small group of producers into one of Peru's most established coffee cooperatives. Based in the mountainous San Ignacio region of Cajamarca, the organization was formed to help farmers overcome the logistical challenges of their remote locations. Today, it serves as a vital hub for over 800 members, managing approximately 2,200 hectares of coffee land where smallholders typically cultivate plots ranging from one to five hectares.

The cooperative operates in a high-altitude environment, with coffee grown between 1,200 and 1,900 meters above sea level. This geography provides the ideal climate for producing high-quality beans. The cooperative is known for processing a diverse range of cultivars, including Bourbon, Catimor, Catuai, Caturra, Marsellesa, Mundo Novo, Pache, and Typica.
