New Hampshire Coffee Roasting Co. traces its origins to 1989, when it was founded as Piscataqua Coffee Roasting Co. in a barn in Eliot, Maine, by Michael Kirk. Driven by a desire to improve the quality of coffee available in the region, Kirk established the business to provide freshly roasted, high-quality beans. Following health challenges, Kirk partnered with his brother, Bill Coneys, in 1996 to sustain the operation. After Kirk’s passing in 1997, Bill and his wife, Melissa, assumed leadership, eventually relocating the business to Dover, New Hampshire, and rebranding it as New Hampshire Coffee Roasting Co. to better reflect its local identity.

For over two decades, Bill and Melissa Coneys managed the company as a family-owned enterprise. Following Bill’s unexpected passing in 2019, Melissa continued to operate the business for a short period before deciding to sell. The company was subsequently purchased by a team that included Nick Barretto, who had been an employee for five years, ensuring the continuation of the brand as a family-owned operation. Today, the leadership team includes Nick Barretto and Chris Barretto, who oversee operations and finance, alongside roaster Mike Chasse.

Headquartered at 7 Sumner Drive in Dover, the company functions as a small-batch craft roaster. They handle all aspects of production in-house, including roasting, grinding, and packaging.
