The farm was established in 1984 by Inácio Carlos Urban, who arrived in Minas Gerais in 1976 with a vision for sustainable and innovative coffee production. The name 'Rio Brilhante,' which translates to 'bright river,' was chosen to honor the crystal-clear water sourced from the Guarani Aquifer that sustains the farm's operations.

Spanning over 2,000 hectares, the estate has grown into one of the largest coffee producers in the region. Despite its scale, the farm maintains a rigorous focus on specialty-grade production.
