Westrock Coffee Company was founded in 2009 by Scott Ford, a former CEO of Alltel Corporation, with an initial mission to foster economic change for smallholder farmers in Rwanda. The company began its operations in Rwanda before establishing a roasting facility in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 2010. In 2025, the company further expanded its Conway operations by opening a dedicated single-serve production facility.

By 2026, the company announced it had achieved its goal of 100% responsible sourcing, meaning all of its tea, green coffee, and soluble purchases are verified through second- or third-party programs to ensure compliance with its internal responsible sourcing policies.

The company’s business model is built on providing scalable solutions for "blue-chip" customers, offering services that include product formulation, manufacturing, and packaging in various formats, including cans, glass, and single-serve capsules. By integrating these services, Westrock aims to reduce the R&D and logistical burden for brands looking to launch or scale beverage programs, ranging from traditional coffee to functional, protein-forward RTD drinks.

Financially, the company has focused on scaling its infrastructure to become a cash-generating platform. While the company experienced periods of net losses during its aggressive capital expenditure phase—specifically during the construction of its large-scale manufacturing facilities—it has reported consecutive quarters of growth in Consolidated Adjusted EBITDA as of 2026.
