ASUVIM

The story

ASUVIM (Asociación de Productores de Café Vivir Mejor) is a small coffee association located in the mountains overlooking Lake Atitlán in southwestern Guatemala. The organization consists of approximately 50 to 65 producers from the village of Palestina in San Juan La Laguna and the area of Paquip who collaborate to maintain a unified focus on coffee quality.

Challenges

The association operates in a mountainous region where producers must coordinate the delivery of ripe cherries to a central mill for processing to ensure consistency.

Innovations

The association utilizes a centralized processing model for its members and maintains both organic and Rainforest Alliance certifications to support sustainable production standards.
