Danche Washing Station

The story

Danche Washing Station was established in 2019 by Neguesse Debela, a former computer professional who entered the coffee industry. The station is located in the Worka Chelbesa area of the Gedeo region and serves as a processing hub for hundreds of local smallholder farmers. It operates as a second site for Debela, who began his coffee production career in 2017.

Coffee production in Ethiopia faces significant variability due to changing environmental and climatic conditions from year to year.

Innovations

The station utilizes rigorous quality control measures, such as selecting cherries based on Brix sugar content levels above 20, and collaborates with partners to develop specific experimental processing techniques.
