The story

The Pascoal family's involvement in the coffee trade dates back to 1902 when Italian immigrants from Bari began selling green coffee in Brazil. The modern Daterra operation was founded in 1976, eventually evolving into a large-scale producer focused on sustainable agriculture and specialty coffee production.

Innovations

Daterra operates an experimental lab called Masterpieces to test unusual varietals and processing techniques, and they utilize the 'Our Plot Project' to collaborate directly with roasters on specific land parcels. They were the first coffee farm in Brazil to achieve Rainforest Alliance certification and have long prioritized carbon-negative practices.
