El Roble

The story

Hacienda El Roble is a historic estate in the Mesa de los Santos region of Santander, Colombia, with a legacy spanning over 150 years. The farm is currently owned by Oswaldo Acevedo and is recognized for its long-standing commitment to coffee production and organic practices.

Challenges

The farm is located in a very dry area of Bucaramanga that experiences occasional severe drought, necessitating the use of shade trees to retain soil moisture.

Innovations

The farm maintains a unique coffee garden containing over 70 different coffee varieties and species for research and preservation. They are recognized as one of the first organic coffee forests in Colombia and employ a dedicated staff of scientists and agronomists to refine processing techniques.
