The story

The Jabanto farmers group is a collective of smallholder coffee farmers located in the Gedeo zone of Ethiopia. The group was established in 2017 to facilitate the export of their coffees and improve market access for individual producers.

Challenges

Purchasing coffee from single farmers in Ethiopia remains relatively rare, and the group works to overcome logistical and structural barriers to export their own high-quality lots.

The group focuses on improving coffee quality through consistent agronomic practices and post-harvest processing, with some members investing in infrastructure for washed processing and specialized techniques like carbonic maceration.
